Creator of the documentary, Dario Jackson is a man of many talents. Ol’ Time Carnival–Come Again was not his first work of art relating to the Caribbean scene, and we’re certain that it won’t be his last. For almost 11 years, he has been involved in Mas in some shape, form, or fashion.
Based in Toronto, Ontario, Dario quickly went from being a successful section leader to being a bandleader extraordinaire for TruDYNASTY Carnival. During that time, he discovered his passion for videography and editing. “When I found out the creators of the live production- Ol’ Time Carnival, Come Again, were looking for a videographer,” he says, “I jumped at the chance to be a part of it. They only wanted some background footage and a recording of the play itself, but I knew I could do even more. I wanted to create an entire story around it.”
What resulted was a smorgasbord for the senses. Dario filmed for multiple days throughout the summer and compiled a large amount of footage, enough for him to create a distinctive piece. “The finished product is not just about the play, it’s about the creators of Toronto Mas Art –The producers and their staff bringing the history of Carnival to life, educating the youth and reliving where it all started,” says Dario.
Said to have “An eye for edge,” Dario’s rendering of the colorful sights and sounds creates a display that you not only see, but you feel. His brand is Experience The VIBE Media, and he is currently working on another documentary which will provide an even closer look into everything ‘Mas’.
His talents don’t just lie there, however. Dario has also filmed corporate advertising pieces and special events for individuals and couples. He has the unique ability to take a general idea of what the client is looking for and turning it into something great. There’s no doubt he loves what he does and he does it well. We’ll be sure to keep an eye out for more and more amazing work from this promising artist!
